If you fancy yourself as an outdoorsman (or if you just like walks in the park), then Amerson River Park in Macon is the place for you. Amerson River Park boasts 180 acres of wetlands, lush forests, and a beautiful oxbow river that pleases nature enthusiasts of all kinds.

When you enter Amerson River Park, not only will you be surrounded by Macon’s gorgeous greenery. You’ll also have access to ample recreational activities, including kayaking, tubing, canoeing, trail hiking, and more. Resting at the northern end of the park, a canoe launch will kick start your journey along the Ocmulgee River. You can canoe, tube, or kayak and the two-mile stretch from Jay Hall Memorial Canoe Launch to the Bragg Jam Canoe and Tube Takeout can be enjoyed both lazily or boldly.

Seven miles of trails wind through Amerson River Park, giving joggers, hikers, and cyclists room to ride and roam.

Amerson River Park also houses a fully-accessible playground—if you don’t feel quite up to a full day of outdoor excursion, but still would like to catch some sun and fun. The playground features swings, slides, and all kinds of other playground equipment for children to explore and enjoy.

Hours of Operation

Amerson River Park is open seven days a week, Monday through Sunday, from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. (during daylights savings time). The Park is open to the public, absolutely free to use and enjoy, and offers two pavilions which can be rented out for a special event or celebration.
