It’s the season to eat local! Three new restaurants in Macon, Georgia are opening this spring and summer. Visit them for mouthwatering meals. Not to mention, you can support the local economy at the same time!
M&M Sandwich and Pastry Shop
Many of us talk about opening a business with our friends—but few of us ever accomplish it! One such success story? The two women who opened M&M Sandwich and Pastry Shop! Monique Moye and Felicia George first met at Kroger, where they worked at as the assistant deli bakery manager and a bakery clerk, respectively. They also became fast friends!
Around this time last year, they (like many of us) both spent most of their days at home. However, they had a plan to change that: opening their own restaurant in March 2021. Drawing on what they knew best, they made a menu filled with delicious sandwiches and tasty desserts.
If you visit, try their popular M&M club sandwich. Then, for dessert, perhaps some petit fours or a cannoli! Plus, they serve slushes and homemade chips. No matter what you choose, you’ll love that they make everything fresh to order.
You can find them at 3045 Vineville Ave. Their hours run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., every Monday through Saturday.
La Bella Vita
La Bella Vita—in Italian, it means “the beautiful life.” And, in Macon, it also means that we have a new spot for Italian food! They plan to open their doors in just a few days on May 1.
It also seems like friendships continue to grow strong in town! Like Moye and George, the creators of La Bella Vita are also buddies! Vincent Kelly and Donny Barnes’ friendship began at the pizza restaurant that Kelly co-owns, Fatty’s Pizza. Now, years, later, it has culminated into a sit-down Italian spot.
Already wondering what you’ll eat at their grand opening? The menu promises dishes like calamari, shrimp scampi, and chicken marsala.
When May 1 arrives, take a trip to 347 Cotton Ave. Interestingly enough, the restaurant sits across from Fatty’s Pizza, where everything started. They haven’t posted their hours yet, but keep an eye out on their Facebook page here!
Welcome to town! The owners of Macon Bagels loved our city so much, they decided to move here from St. Petersburg, Florida to open up a bagel shop as one of these new restaurants in Macon. However, Lauren Bone and Patrick Rademaker aren’t new to the business. Bone also has experience as a bagel shop employee in the Sunshine State.
Though our town only marked a detour on their initial trip to the Georgia mountains, Bone and Rademaker found themselves won over. As a result, soon we can enjoy their bagels and sweet treats. Their menu will offer hand-rolled bagels—of course—as well as options like cookies and muffins. You can also wash down your food with a cold brew or drip coffee.
Currently, they’re still preparing their shop for its early July opening. So, mark your calendars and make way to 470 Third St. later this summer.
Boosting the local economy? Don’t mind if we do! By eating local at the new restaurants in Macon, we can empower those in our hometown—and enjoy something tasty too.
