Are you looking for a little news to brighten your day? A new lighting system in Downtown Macon will soon light up alleyways and keep things shining bright through the night!

Light the way

The $150,000 new lighting system in Downtown Macon will be donated to the county by NewTown. As of now, lights will be installed on buildings throughout the downtown area.

Plans include adding lights to Cherry Street Lane, Mulberry Street Lane and First Street Lane. A parking lot off First Street Lane will also have new lights installed.

Overall, the new lighting system in Downtown Macon will provide an added level of public safety and security. The city hopes with the addition of the lights downtown visitors will stay, shop and dine longer hours.

NewTown is currently in the process of ordering the parts and supplies needed for the installation. Hopefully the project will begin by the end of this year.
